Join us for the first session in the 2025 Child Abuse Prevention Month webinar series, which will explore the power of authentic engagement, shared accountability, and systems change in Sacramento County. From informal supervision to the development of a Prevention Cabinet, our collective work has been shaped by humility, transparency, and a commitment to listening—both to data and to the lived experiences of families and community partners. Our approach acknowledges practice gaps, embraces scrutiny, and prioritizes well-being. By leading with heart and rigor, busting myths, and pushing for real change, we affirm that "Hope lives here." Join us as we reflect on how we collaborate to create a system that centers dignity, safety, and holistic support.

 

     Prevention in a Tribal Context: Two Feathers Family Services

Join us for the second session in the 2025 Child Abuse Prevention Month webinar series! As part of Child Abuse Prevention Month and the theme “It Takes a Village,” this webinar will highlight the importance of culturally rooted prevention efforts in Tribal communities. Two Feathers Family Services will share insights on community-driven strategies that support Indigenous youth and families. Youth presenters will lead the discussion by sharing their experiences and perspectives on mentorship, cultural humility, trust-building, and systems change. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how to foster meaningful collaboration with Tribal communities and take action to support Indigenous-led prevention efforts.

 

     Lunch & Learn: Building a Village from Trust Up

Join us for the third session in the 2025 Child Abuse Prevention Month webinar series. Presented by Safe & Sound who has been at the forefront of recent initiatives to shift systems toward child and family well-being—where families are strengthened in, and with, the communities they know and trust. Expanding on the theme of “It Takes a Village,” our panel of national and local experts will discuss proven practices for building trust from within a community—to strengthen the community and help families thrive.

 

     Transforming the System from Mandated Reporting to
     Community Supporting

Join us for the fourth session in the 2025 Child Abuse Prevention Month webinar series! Listen to former Task Force members share the story of how California is shifting the paradigm from mandated reporting to community supporting. Presenters will speak to how and why this work was started, the recommendations that are moving this work forward, and next steps to ensure the state reforms the mandated reporting system.

 

      The Power of Lived Expertise in Building the Village of Support for
      Children and Families: A Panel Conversation

Join us for the final session in the 2025 Child Abuse Prevention Month webinar series! A diverse panel of prevention and child welfare professionals, from California and around the country, who come to their work with lived experience of the child welfare system will wrap up our month's reflection on the meaning and possibilities of our theme, "It takes a village." Panelists will share how their life experiences have informed their work, their perspectives on what we need to build/rebuild the "village" that families need, and ideas for action for all of us.
